Shout out to Goma's women farmers on International Women’s Day!

We are so proud to support some of the coolest women farmers that make a virtue of providing Goma Greens' healthy fruit and veggies. Which better day to celebrate them than today on International Women's Day? 

Wu Min - Chongming Island

Wu Min has an extraordinary story. 6 years ago she decided to take a new path in life as she left her career as a college professor, and an employee of the Ministry of National Defense. Being concerned about food safety, she decided to buy a piece of land and grow her own produce – without much knowledge about agriculture.

Today, she runs a small farm in Chongming Island according to organic principles. A part from growing vegetables, nuts, fruits and rice, she also has ducks, chickens and a few goats and pigs on her farm. We have the deepest respect for Wu Min, who tells us that it is not always easy to choose the organic path. It requires more time and work and the produce is more fragile to pests and hard weather conditions.

On top of that, she has a cool sister, Wu Chun Hong, who we also source from. Chun Hong’s small farm is located in Nanhui and she has been farming according to organic principles for more than 6 years. She learned about the organic principles from her younger sister.

Bijiang Huang - Guilin

In beautiful Guilin, Ms Huang farms according to organic principles not using chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. 

Although she had a tough debut as a farmer in 2010 with a scanty harvest, she continued to farm without the use of pesticides. Today, seven years on, not only have her methods and harvest improved, but her choice of not using chemicals have had a postive impact on the soil and natural enviroment around her farm.

We work with local farmers, which are selected and trusted, to provide fresh, seasonal and healthy products. Many ofthe small farmers we work with farm according to organic principles which is also why 10% of our earnings will be paid back to the local communities to projects that will inspire even more organic farming.

支持那些乐意为果玛供应健康蔬果的最酷女农民们，我们感到十分自豪。没有比国际三八妇女节更适合赞美她们的日子了。

吴敏 -崇明岛

吴敏有着非同寻常的故事。六年前，她决定放弃大学教授和国防部的工作，开启了新的人生道路。出于对食品安全的忧虑，她决定买一块地自行生产。尽管当时她对农业所知甚少。

如今，她在崇明岛上经营着一小片有机农场。除了种植蔬菜，坚果，水果和水稻外，她还在农场里养殖了鸭子，鸡，和一些山羊，猪等家禽。吴敏说，选择有机种植这条路并不容易，需要更多的时间和工作，植物面对虫害和天灾也更脆弱。这令我们对她由衷产生敬佩。

除此之外，她还有一个同样很酷的姐姐，也是我们供应商之一的吴春红。她的农场位于南汇，进行有机种植已超过六年。正是通过妹妹，她了解到有机种植。

黄必江-桂林

在美丽的桂林，黄女士不使用化学肥料，除草剂和杀虫剂，坚持自然农法种植。

尽管在2010年刚开始时，因为果实欠收，度过了艰苦的一年，她仍然坚持不使用农药进行种植。如今，七年过去了，不仅她的种植方法和产量都有所提高，而且因为不使用化学物质，对土壤和自然环境也产生了积极的影响。
